Meet Our Team
Dr. Grace Strake has been practicing in the south shore area for the past 14 years. She has built a reputation as one of the South Shores' leading veterinary surgeons. Educated at the Freie University of Berlin, Germany, she completed the ECFVG internship program at Tufts University Foster School of Veterinary Medicine in 1995. Dr. Strake practices small animal medicine and surgery. She has completed extensive training in ultrasonography and has been scanning regularly for the past 10 years. Surgical experience includes all routine and non-routine soft tissue surgery including intestinal and bladder surgeries, feline thyroidectomies and laser surgery. She has much experience in avian and exotic medicine and is particularly specialized in ferret medicine. She also has a strong background in oncology and offers many chemotherapy treatment plans.
Dr. Strake lives in Scituate with her husband Michael and sons Ben and Josh. Her family is completed by her 3 dogs, Bronson, Spencer, and Tessie, 4 cats-Joey, Alina, Mietzie, and Pi, as well as 2 aquatic red-eared slider turtles, Tex and Rex. Dr. Strake is also a professional violinist and an avid Red Sox Fan.
Lori Harvey, DVM
Dr. Harvey is a 1993 graduate of Tufts Veterinary School and has many years experience in small animal and exotic medicine. She has special interests in avian medicine, small mammals and reptiles. Dr. Harvey also has a strong background in general and soft tissue surgery and dentistry. She has been practicing on the South Shore for over 12 years.
Dr. Harvey lives in Kingston with her husband Doug and daughter Michelle as well as their 2 cockatiels, a Pionus parrot, and a much loved house rabbit. Her outside hobbies include competitive swimming and running mini triathlons.
Liz Czaplicki, DVM
Dr. Liz graduated from the Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2004 following a degree in Biology from the University of Vermont. After Vet school she completed an internship in equine medicine and surgery at Rochester Equine Clinic before joining Black Pond Vet Service in Norwell, MA. Dr. Liz was certified in equine acupuncture at the Chi Institute while at Black Pond. She is a member of the AVMA and serves as the chairperson for the membership committee of the Massachusetts Veterinary Medical Association.
Dr. Liz comes to South Coastal Animal Health with a strong interest in ultrasonography and is planning to expand her acupuncture training to treat small animals.
Dr. Liz lives in Hingham with her husband Kyle, lab Tristan, and cat Emma. Her horse Patrick lives in Marshfield where there is more room. In her spare time Liz loves to travel and kayak. She has traveled in Africa, Europe, and Central America and has climbed Mount Kilimanjaro.
Nikki Lavelle, CVT
Nikki, our practice manager, is a Certified Veterinary Technician and holds a bachelor's degree from UMass Boston. She has several years experience as a veterinary technician and receptionist. Nikki has a weimeraner named Oliver and 4 cats - Ivan, Zoe, Gracie, and Noah. We are sure that your pers will love Nikki as much as we do.
Jill Petit
Jill, our front end manager, comes to us with many years of experience as a veterinary and medical receptionist. She has a Pomeranian named Korbel, and 4 cats- William, Charles (Charlie), Toby, and Stormy that even her husband likes!

Doris, CVT
Doris, a Certified Veterinary Technician,comes to us from Vetcision where she assisted in the surgical practice. Her previous experience includes several years working with the Animal Rescue League. Doris holds a Bachelor's degree in Animal Science from UMass Amherst. Doris owns a Jack Russell named Nopi, and a cat named Oscar.
Amy
Amy has worked with Dr. Strake for many years as a Veterinary Technician. In her spare time she is a well known Rottweiler breeder. Amy owns a cat named Pickles who peacefully coexists with her 4 Rottweillers- Niko, Sable, Sunny and Savannah, and her Labrador Harley.
Brian, CVT
Brian, a certified veterinary technician, joined our team in July 2007. Brian has many years in the field including several years at New England Wildlife Clinic, and he spent a few years studying at Mount Ida College. He owns a 3-legged terrier named Fern and 2 cats- Waffles, an oriental shorthair, and Dex.
Lauren
Lauren is a recent graduate of Bridgewater State College where she majored in Environmental Biology. She has several years of experience as a Veterinary Technician and Receptionist. Lauren has a Great Dane, named Bella, which outweighs her by at least 50 pounds and 2 kittens, Mimi and Scout.
Colleen
Colleen has worked in the Veterinary field for several years. She has an interest in canine training and nutrition. She lives in Brockton with her husband Mike, 2 sons Patrick and Tyler and 2 Pitbulls Magoo and Maxine as well as 2 cats, Vader and Azeea who actually run the household.
Karen
Karen is our part-time receptionist and full time animal lover. Her menagerie includes 2 pugs- Bailey and Fonzie, her Papillon mix Finn, pictured, 2 cats-Jeffrey and Julie, 3 boys, and 1 husband.
Kerri, CVT
Kerri finished her studies at Mount Ida College in Veterinary Technology.She has a special interest in animal behavior and training and plans to pursue graduate studies. Born and raised in Weymouth, she still lives here her 2 dogs Pinto and Banjo as well as her cats Cashmere and Molly.
Maureen
Maureen is a part time student at Suffolk University. She works as a receptionist and technician's assistant.
Ben
Ben is currently attending the University of Rochester. He will be back for the holidays and through the summer months.
Jackie
Jackie is presently a student at UMass Amherst where she plans to major in Biology. She will still work at SCAH during her vacations.
